Congratulatory Message from Mr. KIM Jeongbae, Vice Minister of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism
Greetings! I am Kim Jeongbae, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
I extend my heartfelt congratulations on the official opening of Festive Korea 2021. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the visitors of Festive Korea 2021 and wish you a meaningful time at the festival.
Under the hardship of the COVID-19 pandemic, I am especially thankful to the local institutions that contributed to presenting Festive Korea 2021.
This year’s festival is particularly significant as a wide variety of cultural programs are organized in collaboration between artists from Korea and Hong Kong, as well as Korean associations in Hong Kong.
It is the MCST’s honor to collaborate with the Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong in promoting Korean cultures and arts in Hong Kong.
Apart from performing arts events and visual art exhibitions, Festive Korea 2021 also introduces
the emerging global issue of carbon neutrality to Hong Kong citizens, providing them an opportunity to discuss and experence the importance of ‘environment-oriented culture’ and ‘sustainable culture’.
Hong Kong has long been the renowned ‘Global Art City’ where East meets West. The presence of cross-cultural aesthetics can be found in every corner of the town.
I hope Festive Korea 2021 would bring us harmonious interactions and meaningful inspirations that would breathe new life into the city’s vibrant culture, and take our friendship to the next level. I am certain that culture has the power to touch people’s hearts and minds.
In face of the COVID-19 situation, I believe every attempt we make to communicate through culture is not only a means to comfort ourselves, but also a valuable footstep for us to understand each other better.
The MCST will continue to strive to convey the power of culture to Hong Kong citizens in the future.
I, once again, would like to express my heartiest gratitude to the Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong and all partner organizations for organizing Festive Korea 2021, and to the Government of the Hong Kong SAR for generously supporting the event.
