Demand for green products is on the rise in the growing houseware industry

Held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in downtown Wanchai, Asia’s largest HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair will run from 20 to 23 April this year.
In 2010, the world underwent economic recovery after the downturn. Hong Kong’s total exports rose 20% from 2009. In particular, Hong Kong’s houseware export recorded a strong rebound of 17.5%, showing significant growth of the industry.

To respond to the increasing eco awareness of buyers and consumers as well as their pursuit of low carbon living, companies strived and researched for various eco friendly options and put new green products on the market. The new ‘Green Living Zone’ features many innovative green houseware items to add the eco element in your homes and buildings, and to help the world go greener.

Also to the interest of buyers, the Hall of Elegance has more than 40 exhibitors from Australia, Canada, Chinese Mainland, Denmark, Hong Kong, Italy, Korea, Switzerland, Thailand, Taiwan, Spain and the USA this year, highlighting over 60 brands and designer’s collections; green & associate, IDEAS Denmark, Inhension, Mastrad, Nuova R2S, Thomson Pottery, Topchoice, & Umbra are amongst all to be present in this privileged zone.

‘Outdoor Living’ is another focal point of this year’s fair. To create a relaxing and entertaining setting in outdoor living space, buyers in search of decorations and furniture for gardens, balconies and patios can find BBQ grill, garden table set, hammock, birdhouse and more in this zone.

‘ASEAN Select’ returns this year to presents quality exhibitors from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

For the third year, the fair’s special highlight – ‘World of Pet Supplies’ has affirmed its place as a key trading platform. This year, about 100 exhibitors will join World of Pet Supplies. There will also be a new product section on pet food and supplements to house various kinds of pet food, treats and health supplements for pets around the world.

For many years, the buyer sentiment is good which contributes to the success of business in every corner of the fairground. Hadi Enterprises from UAE concluded US$20 million orders with Hong Kong and Chinese mainland exhibitors. Essential At Home from New Zealand also made deals worth around US$150,000 at the fairground.

Concurrently held is the 2nd HKTDC Hong Kong International Home Textiles Fair. The inaugural edition, being a spin-off from Houseware Fair, received a roaring welcome from buyers before kickoff and this well-received event finally attracted over 14,300 buyers from 114 countries & regions. All in all, having these 2 complementary fairs alongside creates synergy and opportunities.
