This is Pyongyang, the capital of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, which the Western media is playing up as a country of stagnation and a country far removed from modern civilization.

New Scenes in the DPRK
The new scenes in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea are attracting the attention of the international community.

Ideal Mountainous Town
The new scenery of the city of Samjiyon at the foot of Mt Paektu in the northern tip of Korea is indeed spectacular.

The district of dwelling houses of several hundred apartment buildings is clearly distinguished from the district of commercial service and other districts, and these districts, together with the sports village with various kinds of sports facilities and ski slopes and the local-industry factories, are combined excellently from the point of view of formative art to present modern architectural beauty.

Forests and parks match the characteristics of the northern highland.

When viewed from an observation platform or airplane, the city looks like a city portrayed in a science fiction.

While giving on-site guidance at the construction sites of the then Samjiyon County in October 2019, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un said: Nobody would have thought that in such difficult days we would build such an ideal town, an envy of the world; the construction of this county is a phenomenal project that has proved once again the vitality of our style of self-reliance that there is nothing we cannot do when we rise up firmly united as one believing in our own strength.

The fireworks set in the sky in early December last year in celebration of the inauguration of the city made the people picture in their minds the bright future of the DPRK which is vigorously advancing on the strength of self-reliance and potential of its self-reliant economy.

Modern Large-scale Greenhouse Vegetable Farm and Nursery
The Jungphyong area situated in the northeastern part of the DPRK is also showing a new landscape.

In less than one year 320 greenhouses and a tree nursery, hundreds of dwelling houses and such public buildings as school, kindergarten, day care centre, hospital and welfare service facilities were built in the area of 200 hectares, which had not been under plough until then.

The panoramic view of the greenhouse vegetable farm of tens of hectares, equipped with homemade facilities and technology and put on a highly intensive, scientific and industrial footing, and the nursery which is capable of producing tens of millions of saplings a year makes people picture in their minds the greenhouse vegetable farms and nurseries to be built in the DPRK one after another in the future.

While giving on-spot guidance at the construction sites of the Jungphyong Greenhouse Vegetable Farm and Nursery in October 2019, Kim Jong Un said, wearing a broad smile on his face, that this was indeed what it meant creating new from nothing.

Land of Promise in Yangdok Area
The Yangdok Hot Spring Resort situated in the central mountainous area of the DPRK is a characteristic medical treatment base and a multi-purpose sports and cultural base.

The scenery with indoor spa baths resembling a fairy world, outdoor spa baths, skiing area, riding park, hotels, sanatoria, sports and cultural base, public service facilities and low-rise and multi-storied apartment houses like villas all covering an area of 1.66 million square metres, looks like a piece of painting.

The resort, all astir with people enjoying a happy cultural and emotional life, looks nice at daytime, but its nocturnal view is more spectacular.

The resort, which is nature-friendly and environment-friendly, and which sustains the Korean traditional sentiments, demonstrates the new level of Korean-style architecture.

The spa here is recognized as the excellent of the excellent spas in Korea for rich sulfur, minimal radon, large volume of spring water, and high medicinal and therapeutic efficacy.

The resort reaches the global standards of spa tourism.

Kim Jong Un, who participated in the inauguration ceremony of the resort on December 7, 2019, expressed his satisfaction, saying: We have now opened a new field of cultural and emotional life for our people; another plan of the Workers’ Party of Korea to make the people enjoy socialist civilization to their heart’s content has come true.
