歐盟外長莫蓋里尼訪問伊朗
EU High Representative Federica Mogherini visits Iran

An EU high-level delegation led by High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini visited Iran and agreed with the Iranian counterparts to promote cooperation in different sectors.

From 16 to 17 April, EU High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini lead a high-level EU delegation to Iran.

The delegation explored different sectors of cooperation with Iran, such as:

•economic relations,
•energy, environment,
•migration,
•drugs,
•humanitarian aid,
•transport,
•civil protection,
•science and civil nuclear cooperation,
•culture.

More broadly, regional and human rights issues were also part of the agenda.

The visit builds on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action agreed in Vienna in July 2015 which gave the prospect for improved and expanded EU-Iran bilateral relations.

The delegation included EU Commissioners Elżbieta Bieńkowska, in charge of Internal Market and Industry, Violeta Bulc, for Transport, Miguel Arias Cañete, in charge of Climate Action and Energy, Carlos Moedas, for Research, Science and Innovation, Tibor Navracsics, in charge of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Christos Styliandes, for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis management and Karmenu Vella, in charge of Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.

A joint statement of High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini and Foreign Minister Zarif was agreed at the end of the meetings.

Sectorial statements were also agreed between the EU Commissioners and their respective Iranian Ministerial counterparts.
