Paola Guida, Italian Trade Commissioner speech on Jewels of Italy Gala Evening

“Jewels of Italy” is the annual highlight of the Italian Trade Commission in the occasion of the HK International Jewellery Fair, not only because we are the largest European Pavilion at the fair, but also for the authentic “Made in Italy” products we are bringing to the Hong Kong market. Italian jewellery has a very long history and a great culture; its name represents quality, style, creativity, technology and above all a passion for beauty and artistry.

Jewellery is an art that, through Italy, has one of its main exponents. Italian jewels stand out for their design, for the quality of their precious materials, for the superb manufacturing techniques and for the emontions that each creation is able to evoke in the eyes of its onlookers. Modern jewellery has progressed beyond its traditional perception as a luxury item; its artistic significance is now manifested in many aspects of our life. The creative design of Italian jewelery not only emphasizes the sophistication of our crafting skills but also the classical qualities of glamour and elegance.

The Gala Evening on the 6th of March, at the Sky Lounge in the Central Plaza, aims to introduce some of the most representative pieces of jewellery, chosen by the 60 Italian companies on show. Every set of jewels is related to the four main trends – Surreal Garden, Decorama, Folk-Luxe and High Vibrancy – identified by the TRENDVISION’s creative team, a division of Fiera di Vicenza.

Through this annual event, the Italian Trade Commission’s goal is to promote the Italian jewellery industry’s position as a worldwide trendsetter and centre of excellence. Hong Kong is a perfect place for jewellery trading activities, given its expertise in the sector and its strategic position within Asia.

I now invite you to begin your journey of beautiful Italian artistry and enjoy the perfection of the Italian jewels on show tonight.
